Area Attractions

The communities of Arnolds Park, Lake Park, Milford, Okoboji, and Spirit Lake make up the area referred to as the Iowa Great Lakes, also commonly known as Okoboji. The glacier-carved lakes have made the area a popular tourist destination throughout Iowa, South Dakota, southwest Minnesota, and Nebraska.
Iowa’s largest natural lake, Spirit Lake, is located here, along with five interconnected lakes: West Okoboji, East Okoboji, Upper Gar, Lower Gar, and Minnewashta. Spring-fed West Lake Okoboji is a beautiful shade of blue and 134 feet deep. It is the centerpiece of the five chain lakes, and the surrounding communities provide the backdrop for Okoboji’s year-round playground.
