Greene County Medical Center offers a positive experience providing excellent care to patients with caring, professional, experienced staff. The medical center is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital with state-of-the-art surgical suites, a “New Beginnings Birth Center,” a 65-bed Long Term Care Unit and Public Health. The hospital also has two clinics - Advanced Women’s Care and West Central Orthopedics. Outpatient Services include Acute Nursing, Emergency Care, Home Healthcare, Diabetes Education, Lab, Cardiopulmonary, Cardiac Rehab, Surgery, Imaging, Occupational Medicine, Rehabilitation Services and Telehealth.
The medical center is committed to providing excellence in health services and is truly committed to its employees. In 2006, the staff created their own Employee Standards of Behavior which exemplifies how they treat patients, residents, clients, visitors and each other.
Jefferson is the county seat of Greene County and home to great schools, unique shops and many fun family events throughout the year. Jefferson is located in west central Iowa along Highway 30, approximately 45 minutes from Ames, 1 hour from Des Moines, 2-1/2 hours from Omaha, 4 hours from Kansas City or Minneapolis and just 6-1/2 hours from Chicago. In addition, Greene County offers a state-of-the-art Recreational Center – featuring new equipment by local manufacturer Power Lift; the Mahanay Bell Tower, a 14-story carillon tower; the 89-mile paved Raccoon River Valley Recreational Trail, which begins at the Milwaukee Depot in Jefferson; and Spring Lake Park, which offers camping, fishing and swimming.
