This position encompasses research support in the conduct of both physiological and biochemical studies. The research assistant will be expected to conduct both live animal and bench experiments, collect data and analyze the results. The research assistant must be able to adapt to real-time circumstances as the situation demands. This position requires someone who is able to adapt to a changing work-day schedule. Key areas of responsibilities include collecting specimens, conducting experiments on those specimens, analyzing and summarizing data. The position requires weekly reports to the unit., contributing to manuscript/publications, maintaining facilities and equipment, and supervision/staffing for animal husbandry personnel. The position requires keen social skills to maintain good interpersonal relationships with other lab members.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint and Excel is required.
Proficiency with FIJI imaging program is required
Experience with mouse animal husbandry is required.
Experience with maintaining mice colonies including specimen collection and data entry is required.
Experience preparing solutions for pig surgeries is required.
Experience working with pigs is required.
