Job Description

Under general administrative direction, provides organizational leadership in the development, implementation and maintenance of service consistent with the Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan of the Mary Greeley Medical Center. Supervisor/manager understands, supports, communicates and promotes Leadership Institute initiatives. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):

Bachelor's degree

Current Iowa license as a Registered Nurse

Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing

Minimum of two years clinical experience.

Professional certification in nursing specialty or nursing leadership within 24 months of hire. If currently enrolled in master's program, the certification will need to be completed within 24 months of graduation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of two years experience in clinical specialty.

Masters level of education in nursing or health related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Skill in effective oral and written communication in English.

Knowledge of basic arithmetic, algebra, statistics, and their applications.

Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Active Listening skills, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times

Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Ability to manage one's time effectively.

Knowledge of theory, principles, techniques, and practice of professional nursing specific to specialized field of nursing as it relates to scientific principles; nursing research; preparation, administration and actions of medications and medical procedures; and the ability to operate complex equipment; knowledge of counseling and teaching techniques; of basic management theory.

Ability to provide professional nursing care; establish and maintain a working rapport and relationship with physicians and all members of the healthcare team; problem solve and use critical thinking skills; to communicate both verbally and in writing; use computer.

Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for appropriate developmental age of population served.
