In addition to inpatient phlebotomy job duties and responsibilities, the Phlebotomy Client Services Lead Technologist facilitates and coordinates services provided to outside laboratory clients. General duties include but are not limited to: establishing a routine schedule of services for all outside laboratory clients; frequently traveling to clients to collect patient specimens while interacting with customers in a pleasant, efficient, and cooperative manner; writing and maintaining laboratory procedures; assessing competency and providing general supervision of laboratory phlebotomists; and training new phlebotomy employees and students. Additional duties include registration and central processing skills.
Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS), or Medical Technology (MT) OR a Bachelors degree in related science field plus Certificate in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS), or Medical Technology (MT), recognized by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent is required within six months of employment.
Good driving record, including no more than one moving violation in the last one year and no more than two moving violations in the prior 3 years. No DUI or DWI convictions. Must be able to produce MVR upon hire and annually thereafter.
Valid State of Iowa Drivers License.
5+ years of clinical laboratory experience including phlebotomy and central processing skills.
