This position acts as the initial contact with patients, visitors and vendors. This position will determine the reason for visit and direct or escort the visitor to the correct destination. Will answer in-bound telephone calls when needed and contact nurses or schedulers to speak personally with patients.
Listen carefully to the reason for the persons visit and offer to escort them if they seem unsure of their destination. Give clear instructions for the visitors return trip by pointing out signage, landmarks, or departments to aide them in navigating the hospital. Must have excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to give clear instructions and directions and make small talk in order to put visitor at ease and create a comfortable and friendly atmosphere for visitor. Be an exemplary ambassador for KHC by having a naturally outgoing, confident, and cordial demeanor at all times. Strive to make the visitor comfortable at all times. Possess the maturity and flexibility to interact with visitors who may be under stress or unwell at that particular time. Be observant and recognize when a visitor needs ambulatory assistance by offering to provide a wheelchair or the need to pause and rest. Be cognizant of the visitors need to use handrails. Have utmost patience with visitors slow pace. Quick learner to know department locations and what they do and the optional names they are called (i.e. Xray/Radiology/Imaging). During quiet moments offer to help co-workers by answering phones, making copies, delivering messages to clinic, other duties as assigned. At all time adhere to HIPAA and confidentiality requirements, avoid gossip and speculation on patients reasons for visits. Required to complete all annual competency training.
High School diploma or GED. Medical Terminology a plus. Bi-lingual a plus. Exemplary Customer Service skills. Mandatory Reporter and BLS required or obtained within 6 months of hire.
