Under general supervision, obtains sonographic images for diagnostic purposes. Ultrasound Technologists ensure all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):
Completion of a 12 month ultrasound training program or 12 months of ultrasound work experience.
Certification by R.D.M.S. in physics and at least two of the following three certifications: OB/GYN, Vascular and Abdominal within 2 years of hire.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Knowledge of routine ultrasound procedures and associated anatomy; knowledge of records to be maintained.
Ability to perform ultrasound procedures; ability to operate, clean and generally maintain ultrasound equipment.
Skill in providing diagnostic ultrasound services.
Knowledge of basic arithmetic, algebra and geometry and their applications
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Active Listening skills, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for adolescent through geriatric patients.
Skill in effective oral and written communication in English.
