Job Specific Duties/Essential Functions
Provides oversight of operations in 20-bed behavioral health unit.
Collaborates with ED leadership to ensure continuum of care of Behavioral Services is coordinated effectively in community.
Ensures all clinicians perform duties in compliance with laws, regulations, and agency policies and procedures.
Ensures performance reviews are completed annually for all staff under direct supervision.
Oversees clinical improvement and quality initiatives to adhere with The Joint Commission standard for Behavioral Health in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Develops and maintains working relationships with community resources, which may be utilized to support and enhance mental health services.
Develops departmental business and strategic plans, in accordance with organizational goals, objectives, and strategic initiatives.
Prepares annual budget, monitors revenue and expenses of operational plans for all areas of Behavioral Services.
Develops and revises departmental policies and procedures; ensures compliance.
Collaborates with Senior Management in the strategic development and expansion of Behavioral Health Services.
Designs, recommends, implements and assists with marketing new and existing psychiatric treatment programs.
collaborates with medical director to implement and manage utilization, cost, and quality measures of Behavioral Services.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to lead, manage, and direct clinical staff to provide competent and effective mental health assessments, evaluations and treatment interventions.
Ability to develop and evaluate programs for effectiveness.
Knowledge of laws and ethical standards that pertain to behavioral health clinical care.
Experience with quality improvement and performance measurement.
Professional Experience Required vs. Preferred
Minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience in the behavioral health field is required, with at least 2 years supervisory experience required.
Experience in behavioral health billing, coding, evidence-based managerial practices preferred.
Education-Required vs. Preferred
Master's Degree in Nursing, Social Work or Counseling is required.
Specialized training in individual, group and/or relational counseling is preferred.
Knowledge and experience in treating psychiatric and substance abuse disorders is preferred.
Experience in administration/supervision in Behavioral Health required.
Licensure, Certification, Registration - Required vs. Preferred
Currently licensed to practice as a Nurse, Independent Social Worker or as a Mental Health Counselor in the state of Iowa required.
