Provides direct and indirect patient/resident care activities under the direction of Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse. Assists patient/residents with ADLS, provides for personal care, comfort and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment for patient/residents.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Must demonstrate competence prior to assignment of home care aide services. Certification as a nurses aide will demonstrate competence.Must have proof of completion of an approved Aide Training Course.
Completion of the Hospice of Pella Volunteer Training Course or equivalent within 6 months of accepting the position.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required. New employees certify within three (3) months after hire date.
One year of prior experience in health care desired.
Competency testing and evaluation will be required prior to assignment of Comfort House aide services.
Must complete 12 hours of OBRA training hours per year.
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
Strong written and verbal skills.
Knowledge of and acceptance of the Hospice Philosophy of Care.
Must possess a valid Iowadrivers license and maintain a good driving record.
Must maintain his/her own auto insurance policy.
Interpersonal skills sufficient for effective patient, family and staff interaction.
Sign on bonus does require 1 year employment agreement.
