SUMMARY Provides basic patient care duties, limited radiology services, limited laboratory testing and clerical services in an outpatient clinic setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
If assigned, performs limited laboratory testing (including phlebotomy and a variety of routine and/or automated tests), quality assurance procedures, maintains records of tests performed and results received.
If assigned and with appropriate education and certification, performs limited radiological services, including taking and processing radiology films, maintaining appropriate recordkeeping, performing and documenting quality assurance/control procedures, and observing safety requirements.
Maintains inventory of supplies.
Reports results and pertinent information to patients and healthcare team members.
Maintains equipment and instruments, identifying problems and coordinating appropriate repairs.
Assists with a variety of minor procedures exams and/or operation of diagnostic equipment as assigned.
Assists with assessment by collection of basic data for assigned patients in the clinic or on the phone. Documents basic assessment and care/instructions given.
Coordinates ongoing patient flow through the clinic process, ensuring efficient and effective continuity, i.e. greeting patients, updating demographic and insurance information, phone calls, superbills, collecting payments.
Maintains appropriate aseptic technique for preparation, procedures and medications administered.
Performs miscellaneous office duties including, but not limited to, filing and retrieving medical records, preparing reports and correspondence, and operating various business machines (FAX, copier, computer, adding machine).
Completes all other duties as assigned.
Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.
Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.
Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.
Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.
Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
CMA or LPN Certification.
One year certificate from college or technical school.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS
Currently certified as a Certified Medical Technician in the State of Iowa.
If assigned, current certification in the State of Iowa to perform limited radiology examinations.
Basic CPR training.
